User: "Hi, the ftp server won't let me in."

Me: "What do you mean, _won't let you in_?"

User: "It said anonymous wasn't acceptable and I should use my e-mail
address, or something, so I changed my ftp thing to send my e-mail
address and now it wants a password or something."

Me: "No, no, you've got to send _anonymous_ as the username, and your
complete e-mail address as your password."

Pause.

User: "But it complained about anonymous."

Me: [tries to do it] "It works for me.  Look, our ftp server rejects
you if you don't give a credible e-mail address as a password.  What
_were_ you sending as your password?"

User: "I don't know, it didn't ask me."

Pause.

Me: "Well, just try it again.  This time send _anonymous_ as the
username, and your complete e-mail address as the password."

User: "But last time ---"

Me: [Thinks:] "Yes, I know *all* about last time.  Last time it
complained.  Last time was probably because of your *extremely small
intellect*.  It could *tell* you were using a Mac, and it said _oh,
he's a clueless dildo_.  We have a *very* *smart* *FTP server* and a
*very* *stupid* *user*.''

Me: [Says:] "Look, just try it again.  If you still have problems,
talk to Alex.  He runs our FTP server."

*click*.
